Kaihautū and Kaiurungi

– co-leadership to honour te Tiriti o Waitangi, Te Manawa launch, Arts Action Now general election, kaihautū and kaiurungi co-leadership adopted, learning and celebration hui…

  • The trust’s commitment to honouring te Tiriti is signified by the adoption of a co-leadership model for Te Taumata. The roles of Kaihautū and Kaiurungi complement each other, with one of these roles always to be held by a Māori trustee. This symbolises the embedding of our commitment to supporting te ao Māori and ngā toi Māori across our organisation and strategy activation.

  • Te Manawa is launched, ‘committed to te aronga Māori, we recognise that through principles such as whakapapa, whanaungatanga, manaakitanga, tino rangatiratanga, rangatiratanga, kaitiakitanga, and wairuatanga, we can co-create an inclusive space where Ngā Toi Māori artists and creatives can flourish.’ Te Taumata acts as Te Manawa Ahuru Mōwai, providing a nurturing space for growth and development.

  • Collaboration with the Regional Arts Network Aotearoa (RANA) prior to the General Election, with the web hub, Arts Action Now providing information to the sector on each party’s policies and information on RANA advocacy for a national arts, culture and creativity strategy.

  • Two nationwide online wānanga run in collaboration with the Regional Arts Network Aotearoa (RANA), to gather feedback to inform the RANA Briefing to the Incoming Minister (BIM).

  • In collaboration with Auckland Council, Te Taumata designed a ‘governance 101’ programme. Demystifying Governance in the Creative Sector.

  • The trust’s first Learning and Celebration Hui for the board, team, network and partners of Te Taumata Toi-a-Iwi provided space for stakeholders to come together and build connection, reflect on the whakapapa of the trust, deepen our understanding of the current workstreams and their intersections, and share learning to inform our future direction.
